Our latest Partnership is with a group of Nurses from the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. Their group assisted CMCF in serving meals at the Hope Lodge this past Spring. Inspired by the gratitude and need of the residents at the Lodge, the nurses, led by Ashley Stankiewicz, held a tee-shirt sale at Penn. $500 profit was made and then matched by Penn Cares. On July 15th 2019, Ashley and Nurse Manager Paige Sinclair presented CMCF with a $1000 check at the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge. This is an outstanding beginning for our latest innovative Partner. Ashley and Paige hope to double their sales next year. The CMCF Team intends to support and promote their endeavors. Awesome work and welcome aboard Penn Nurses!
June 1st 2019 was a red-letter day for CMCF. The First Annual Denise McAloon “Shut Out Cancer Day” was held at the 3 Monkeys Café in Philadelphia. Denise was a Fox Chase Cancer Center patient and a huge supporter of the Cathy Miller Cancer Fund and the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge in Cheltenham, PA. Nearly 200 friends and family members turned out to honor Denise and activate their goal “to increase cancer awareness and to work diligently to promote volunteerism, donations and financial support for CMCF and the Hope Lodge”. The day was filled with sisterhood, sociability and team spirit. Tables overflowed with fabulous raffles and baskets laden with sports memorabilia, gift cards and lottery tickets. Even an Irish Whiskey Taster made an appearance! In all, the D-Day’s Team netted $11,486. We thank the members our new Partnership for their efforts and dedication and look forward to working together for many years to come. Way to go Cabrini Girls!
On May 16th 2019, Graceann DiAndrea hosted the 11th Annual FASHION for the CURE at the Concord Country Club in Chadds Ford, PA. Over 250 supporters attended this sell-out event! Graceann and her Committee worked tirelessly to achieve an evening full of stylish fashions, close camaraderie, rousing entertainment and mutual solidarity. As in the past, FFTC honored survivors and remembered those who lost their battle with cancer. DJ Steve Bauer presented a heartfelt tribute to our founder, Frank Miller. Steve Donahue, University of Pennsylvania Head Basketball Coach, spoke on behalf of the Philadelphia Coaches vs. Cancer. With unflinching determination, the FFTC Team achieved an astonishing profit of $26,000. We congratulate them!
